Absolutely nothing compares to the real deal of fresh flowers, stems or green foliage. I love growing cut flowers in my garden every year and I certainly won't shy away from fresh blooms gifted to me by friends and family. I'm not here to convince you to ditch the fresh blooms, or make a case on which option is better - but I will give you my top 3 reasons on why I incorporate faux blooms and branches into my home.
1) Mess Free
No muss no fuss - literally! They do not need water which makes them easy to move around your home, spill proof from toddlers and pets, and they never smell or decay from a busy schedule. You can simply enjoy their beauty without worrying about moldy water or needing to collect dead blooms around your house once a week. Theres nothing worse than wrangling a bunch of vases with stinky water and dried out flowers that leave a confetti of dried bits behind you on the way to the trash can.
2) Cost Effective
Spring and summer are bustling with life and colour. Hydrangeas are my favourite because they look stunning dried as well. However, they shed profusely if you move them around and most times I also want lively looking flowers and stems year round. Faux flowers and stems are great alternatives to grocery store blooms or spending hours in your garden every year (if thats not your thing!). We're also located in Canada and so some branches, like eucalyptus varieties, are out of the question in our home garden endeavours. Faux stems a one time investment that can last many many years in your home - especially if you pick timeless stems for your space.
3) Low Maintenance
They do not require water or light to look their best. Simply place them in your home where they look best and leave them. A little pro tip to keep your faux blooms looking fresh for many years, I love to give my faux flowers a little shower under the kitchen sink a couple times a year when they get dusty. I love a lot of greenery around my home and I like it to exist without a second thought.
